highimpactsexit's gay month, so i figured i should recommend a few free english lgbtq+ games i've played this year.
cain
a very short game where you go around reading real grindr messages sent to the author. there's some "poetic" messages as well as surprisingly lovely ones.
Porpentine
a collection of very good twine works from a trans creator. explores hurt, trauma, and pain. i also quite like how the hyperlinks can do funny things. while i'm linking to a "paid anthology", the games here are all free. i personally recommend "With Those We Love Alive", "Howling Dogs", "Ultra Business Tycoon III", and "Their Angelical Understanding".
Autumn Chen
a very Real game about closeted queer chinese diasporas in the usa. to quote from my review on IFDB: "Karen feels like a real person I could have met on one cumbersome Chinese banquet."
Taylor McCrue
a truthful work that explores the trauma of one trans sex worker. might be the most important game no one wants to play but should.
Bagenzo
a narrative where trans people in face of abandonment must learn to care for each other.
saori
a short allegory about trans histories and identities. people who like this game might enjoy another reverie by the same creator as well.
[SPY INTRIGUE]
furkle
what looks like a shitpost spy simulation at first glance is actually a story about escapism, trauma, mental health, and more. easily one of the most ambitious queer works i've ever read.
Brendan Patrick Hennessy
young adult lesbian romance in a camping trip gone awry.
Nicky Case
as the name suggests, it's a pretty old but still memorable title since it's a gay "asian" guy trying to come out to his parents.
two men go on a date and don't fall in love

Every 10 Seconds I Find New and Exciting Ways to Hate Myself
Actually the Moon
a title about how we all fall into negative feedback loops during work.
for allies, i'll also recommend The Transgender Issue by Shon Faye since that's a very good overview on what trans rights are: working class rights.
lastly, i'd recommend my own game, Hanna, We're Going to School since it's got lesbians and a trans ghost.
hopefully, this list helps people find something interesting in the english free games side of things. i wish i had more energy to write this post but alas, gender brainworms and "am i the right person to write about this" forever lol.
